About the Hummingbird Artwork

Artist Debra Bouricius is a late-in-life watercolor artist whose work is rooted in a lifelong love of wildlife and native plants. Her deep connection with hummingbirds comes from 27 years of banding and welcoming more than 16,000 hummingbirds each season to her home in Peaceful Valley, Colorado.

This watercolor painting was inspired by Debra’s 12 years of banding hummingbirds in Sedona, Arizona. Her firsthand experience with these remarkable birds gives the artwork an extraordinary sense of intimacy, movement, and personality.
